SENER extends the storage window of its strategic projects call to March 2027
An Energy Ministry agreement published in the Official Gazette moves the registration period for battery storage expressions of interest and connection-study requests to June 2, 2026 – March 1, 2027. The call covers renewable generation and storage projects developed under schemes with CFE, aligned with binding planning.
Why it mattersDevelopers preparing battery storage under this call have more time to file; the call has now been modified four times since May.
CFE publishes its basic-supply final tariffs in force since October 1

Why it mattersNatural gas is the main operating cost of a cogeneration plant, and Mexico's pipeline imports are priced off Henry Hub.
Mexico's plan for the term: 1.17 trillion pesos in power and gas, most generation with mixed or private capital
At her October 7 press conference, President Sheinbaum presented a 1,168,710 million peso plan: 794 billion for generation (about 452 billion in mixed projects, 200 billion private, 142 billion CFE), 161 billion for transmission, 72 billion for distribution and 141 billion for gas pipelines.
Why it mattersBy the plan's own figures, about four of every five pesos for new generation would come from mixed schemes or private capital.
